Dispose of Documents Securely in an Environmentally Responsible Way!
Gather your paperwork in boxes or bags (no plastics please). Limit your papers to what can fit in one passenger vehicle. Documents go straight from you into the secure mobile shredding unit provided by Patriot Shredding.
Support Our Neighbors in Need! Shredding is FREE, however, a donation of non-perishable staples to restock badly needed items in the ECHO food pantry would be appreciated. Most needed food items include bags of dried beans, rice, boxed pasta, spaghetti sauce, macaroni and cheese, cereal, canned
fruit, juice pouches, cooking oil, coffee and tea. For a complete list go to: www.echo-inc.org. ECHO: Ecumenical Community Helping Others. An ALL volunteer charity helping neighbors in need.

Why make the switch to an EV?
Other than the fact that electric vehicles are fun to drive, here are other reasons to make your next car electric: typically, EVs cost less to power than gas cars, the maintenance costs are lower, and there is a federal tax credit for certain vehicles and chargers, making the total cost of ownership of many models favorable to gas engine cars. Fossil fuel-driven cars and trucks account for more than 50% of greenhouse gas emissions. Reducing CO2 pollution will secure a safer, cleaner planet for ourselves and for our children. In Virginia, electric vehicles using the grid create less than half the CO2 pollution of gas-powered cars. As electricity generation migrates to non-carbon energy sources, the EV’s indirect CO2 emissions will decrease significantly, eventually getting to carbon-free.

We invite you to join us at STEAMOLOGY’s annual FREE STEM Fest for elementary and middle school students, taking place on Saturday, October 14th at South County High School, 8501 Silverbrook Rd, Lorton, VA 22079.
STEM Fest is an exciting and educational event for K- 8 students centered around Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics (STEM) for elementary and middle school students. This event offers students the chance to immerse themselves in hands-on STEM activities infused with artistic creativity.
This year, we are also placing a strong emphasis on workforce development for high school and college students. To achieve this, we have formed partnerships with AMTRAK and Enterprise e-Support, Inc. These collaborations enable us to share insights into emerging technologies and career opportunities, contributing to the growth of a more robust STEM community in our district.
We are actively looking for volunteers to assist us in organizing and running this event. This presents a fantastic opportunity to accumulate community service hours while also networking with community leaders and businesses. If you’re interested in volunteering, please sign up.
Learn more about STEM FEST and its activities at our website: https://www.steamologyus.org/stemfest/.
Please Note: Parent supervision is required.

The Active Bystander Tactical Emergency Casualty Care (TECC) Certification course, also known as Active Bystander, is the premier training program to prepare civilians for how to respond during an intentional violent event and to address life-threatening emergencies.
Similar to FEMA’s personal preparedness course, “You are the Help Until Help Arrives,” this dynamic and hands-on class will cover basic strategies and skills to recognize violent activities, respond safely, provide immediate rescue and initiate stabilizing medical care to the injured, and effectively report to 911. The skills students learn are transferable to countless situations involving traumatic injury, including car accidents, household injuries or an active shooter.
Come and learn how to be an active bystander from our nationally recognized TECC experts and be prepared to save lives. Upon completion of this course, participants will receive a TECC Active Bystander certificate.
