UPDATED: Woman arrested in connection to fatal shooting near Fairfax City

Updated at 2:30 p.m. —  A woman sought after a fatal shooting near the City of Fairfax has been arrested in Harrisonburg. Fairfax County police said that charges and more details will follow.

Earlier: Police are searching for the person who killed a man Thursday evening (Feb. 10) at an apartment complex in the 3300 block of Willow Crescent Drive, just north of the City of Fairfax.

Fairfax County Police Sgt. Ian Yost says the department received a call around 8:12 p.m. reporting shots fired and then, a man down. EMS personnel rushed him to a trauma center, where he died.

Witnesses, he said, reported seeing a Black woman, maybe in her 20s or 30s, wearing a tan coat and black pants, flee the area on foot.

Police asked for people to avoid the area as they searched and to call 911 if they have any information.

The Fairfax County police helicopter flew over the scene for more than an hour assisting officers with the search for suspects and evidence. (courtesy adsbexchange.com)
