Vienna’s newest Mexican eatery serves up margaritas as well as tacos and fajitas.
El Sabor Grill is now open in the town’s Cedar Park Shopping Center (262 Cedar Lane), taking over the two suites that El Sol Restaurante & Tequileria vacated in January.
With new management and owners, El Sabor opened its doors on March 16. There was no new construction on the existing space, but the decor and menu are different from El Sol, according to General Manager Burcin Can.
The new restaurant has also distinguished itself with the opening of the site’s bar. As indicated by its name, El Sol intended to utilize the bar area as well, but with the COVID-19 pandemic limiting interest in indoor dining last year, it never became feasible, Can says.
“We said that this area definitely needs a bar, so that’s why we’re here,” Can said of El Sabor. “We have a good selection of wines. We have wonderful margaritas, wonderful cocktails, five TVs that we can put to sports channels, news channels, whatever people like, and I think they will enjoy their time here.”
Can is also the general manager of Lezzet, a Turkish-Mediterranean restaurant that will open in the 3,310-square-foot space next door, possibly in mid-April.
With pandemic-related health requirements mostly gone now, Can says Lezzet’s original restaurant in Centreville now sees more customers dining in than taking food out, so he anticipates that El Sabor will see a similar increase as it settles in and COVID-19 cases hopefully continue to fall.
He also hopes to see more customers using El Sabor’s outdoor patio as warmer spring weather arrives.
El Sabor isn’t requiring patrons to wear face masks, but signs posted to the front door still encourage their use, and the wait staff, who are all vaccinated, wear masks when serving customers.
“These tables are there, but the table doesn’t make this restaurant special,” Can said. “The food and the environment and the ambience, and the staff who’s working makes this restaurant special.”
El Sabor is open from 11 a.m. to 9:30 p.m. on Sunday through Thursday, and from 11 a.m. until 10 p.m. on Fridays and Saturdays.
In addition to Lezzet, the fast-food chain America’s Best Wings and Toby’s Homemade Ice Cream are expected to open at Cedar Park Shopping Center in the coming months. The Japanese restaurant Sushi Koji opened next to the upcoming Lezzet space in December.

For many of these patient honorees, this event was the first time they were reunited with the team of healthcare professionals who cared for them after their injury. Both the healthcare team and the honorees expressed gratitude for the opportunity to thank, hug, and simply see one another again after their experience in the Trauma Center.
In May of 2021, the Commonwealth of Virginia designated VHC Health as a Level II Trauma Center. This designation filled a critical community need; previously, the closest trauma center for Arlington County was in Fairfax or Washington, DC. Since becoming a Level II Trauma Center, VHC Health has provided care for nearly 2,000 trauma patients each year.
