Slow Down for County Waste Collectors — For Waste and Recycling Workers Week from June 12-18, the Fairfax County Department of Public Works and Environmental Services urges “extra caution when driving around collection trucks to avoid striking sanitation workers.” In North America, 46 solid waste and recycling collectors were killed at work last year, with vehicle strikes as the top third cause.
