Great Clips is now open in Fairfax City.

The Minneapolis-based hair salon company celebrated the grand opening of its new location at 3989 Pickett Road in the Turnpike Shopping Center with a ribbon-cutting ceremony this past Saturday (May 4).

During its first two weeks of business, the salon is offering haircuts for $5.99, a discount from its standard price of $23.

“We are very excited to join the Fairfax community and provide convenient, reasonable-priced haircuts for the entire family,” franchise owner Sean Carroll said in a press release.

A military veteran, Carroll also owns Great Clips’ location at South Lakes Village Center in Reston.

Established in 1982, Great Clips says it’s the world’s largest salon brand with more than 4,400 franchises in the U.S. and Canada. In addition to Reston and, now, Fairfax City, the company can be found in Franconia’s Festival at Manchester Lakes and in Arlington.

The Fairfax salon is open from 9 a.m. to 7 p.m. on Monday through Friday, 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. on Saturday, and 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. on Sunday. It offers haircuts and styling as well as specialty services, such as perms, shampooing, and bangs, beard and neck trims.

According to the press release, the Great Clips franchise is fully staffed but “intends to continue recruiting and hiring locally.” The company says anyone licensed to practice cosmetology in Virginia apply to join its team of barbers and stylists online or by calling the salon directly at (703) 424-6969.
