A 38-year-old man from Fairfax was killed in a shooting yesterday (Tuesday) at a gas station on Richmond Highway in Belle Haven, police say.

Officers found Arthur Edward Mann II suffering from a gunshot wound at the Citgo (6241 Richmond Highway) in the Fair Haven neighborhood around 6:07 a.m., according to the Fairfax County Police Department.

Mann was declared dead at the scene.

“Preliminarily, detectives believe the suspect and victim were verbally arguing at the gas pump before the shooting,” the FCPD said in a news release. “The suspect discharged a firearm, hitting the victim.”

In an update on Thursday (May 23), the department announced that Doniel Drake, a 44-year-old D.C. resident, had been arrested in connection to the shooting. He faces charges of second-degree murder and use of a firearm in the commission of a felony.

He is currently in custody at the Fairfax County Adult Detention Center without bond.

Mann is the third person to die in a shooting in Fairfax County this month, following deadly incidents in Centreville and Bailey’s Crossroads.
