The results are in for the McLean Community Center’s 2024 governing board elections.
A total of 1,237 residents of the tax district that funds the community center cast ballots during last week’s McLean Day festival and more than a month of absentee voting to determine the new occupants of six board seats — four for adults and two for youth.
Doug Jeffery, a local finance professional, led a crowded field of 10 adult candidates with 490 votes. He was followed by Michael Monroe with 453 votes and Peter Pin with 412 votes, according to results certified yesterday (Tuesday) by the Fairfax County Board of Supervisors.
“As a father and finance professional, I will make sure that the MCC produces an inclusive and family-friendly environment and that it uses its resources prudently,” Jeffery said in a candidate statement submitted before voting started in March. “I am excited to serve our community!”

In their statements, Monroe said he has over 20 years of finance experience that could “help drive amazing activity and efficiency at MCC,” while Pin highlighted his 30-plus years in the business community as a telecommunications consultant.
Winning three-year terms, they will be joined on the board by Ron Keesing, who received 410 votes and will a vacant seat for a one-year term. An executive for the Reston-based defense contractor Leidos, Keesing said in his statement that he’s “excited to continue MCC’s important work bringing arts, events and education to our diverse community.”
Looking at the youth races, Langley High School junior Sonya Thott will represent her school’s area on the board after earning 73 votes to beat out Anastasiia Dudnik-Dubiniak and Luke Understein. Aaron Stark, a junior and class president at McLean High School, defeated Aanya Jain with 81 votes to take the seat representing his school.
The election results were certified by the League of Women Voters of the Fairfax Area.
The 11-member governing board establishes policies, provides oversight and adopts an annual budget for the McLean Community Center. The newly elected members will be sworn in on June 5 after the final meeting of the outgoing board, which will start at 6:30 p.m. that day.
