Free dance nights coming to Lake Anne Plaza next month

Thursday nights will be filled with swinging and swaying at Lake Anne Plaza in Reston next month.

The village center will host free dance nights on the waterfront at 1609 Washington Plaza from 6-9 p.m. every Thursday, starting June 6 through June 27, the Lake Anne and Washington Plaza Merchant Association (LAWPA) announced today (Thursday).

Brought back “by popular demand,” the concerts will be led by local dance instructors, featuring an array of genres and eras, according to a press release.

  • June 6: Salsa Night! Learn how to dance the popular Salsa dance with famed instructor and DJ David Norton
  • June 13: Swing Night! Gottaswing’s Sue and DJ Gary! Basic swing lessons followed by classic big band tunes mixed in with your 50’s and 60’s rock & roll favorites and more!
  • June 20: Salsa and Bachata Night! Learn to dance the popular Latin dances with instructor and DJ David Norton and dance the night away!
  • June 27: Swing Line Dance! Learn Swing Line Dancing, including the always popular Charleston Stroll with Gottaswing’s Sue and DJ Gary! DJ Gary will be spinning your favorite tunes from the 40’s, 50’s and up! Requests considered.

This June, Lake Anne Plaza will also see the return of its “Sunset Concerts” series, starting on June 12 with the world music band Mystic Warriors. Sponsored by Reston Community Center as part of its summer entertainment programming, the free concerts will be held at the plaza from 7-8 p.m. on Wednesdays through Aug. 14.
