Fairfax County police have arrested a Maryland man who allegedly burglarized multiple homes in Dunn Loring.

The 58-year-old man was arrested following a burglary that was reported in the 7900 block of Tire Swing Road in the Shreve Hill neighborhood around 10:25 a.m. on May 24, the Fairfax County Police Department said in a news release.

“While the victims were inside, they heard and saw the suspect breaking into the basement window,” the FCPD said. “The victim challenged the suspect, and he fled before officers arrived.”

Officers soon found the man attempting to get on a train at the Dunn Loring Metro station. He was taken to the Fairfax County Adult Detention Center and charged with burglary, two counts of burglary with the intent to commit a misdemeanor and three counts of property destruction.

The man was also served with two warrants from another jurisdiction, the FCPD said.

According to the police, detectives have “preliminarily” connected the man to three other home burglaries that occurred in the Dunn Loring area in late May:

  • May 20: 8200 block of Bucknell Drive
  • May 22: 2900 block of Beau Lane
  • May 23: 2700 block of Elsmore Street

After initially being held in custody at the Fairfax County Adult Detention Center, the man was granted a supervised release with a $2,500 bond after a hearing on May 29, according to the Fairfax County General District Court clerk’s office.

The man is also facing a charge of failing to appear in court in Montgomery County, but that county waived extradition, the clerk’s office says.
