The Container Store is set to open its new Springfield location this weekend at Springfield Plaza and plans to give out free prizes to the first 100 customers.
The Texas-based company, known for its home and office organization products, announced earlier this week that the new store will open on Saturday, June 15, at 6412 Springfield Plaza. The release also noted plans to open another location in Ashburn on July 27.
According to the release, the roughly 15,000-square-foot space is part of the company’s new “small-store format” and will feature a Custom Spaces Studio with custom closets, displays of its Elfa and Preston lines, and a design center.
The store will offer a range of storage and organization products, from DIY metal systems to wood-based systems. Customers can also browse categories like travel, pet care, and home fragrances, and services include free design consultations, professional installation, and in-home organization.
To celebrate its grand opening, the Springfield location plans to host a ribbon-cutting ceremony at 9:45 a.m. where the first 100 customers will receive a free $20 gift card. Customers can also enter for a chance to win a $500 Custom Space makeover through Sunday, June 23. Those who sign up through the the company’s Organized Insider loyalty program will receive a free gift while supplies last, per the release.
The new locations expand the Container Store’s network to over 200 locations nationwide, including existing stores in Reston, Tysons and Arlington. The Springfield store will join the nearly 50,000-square-foot Whole Foods that opened in Springfield Plaza last October, replacing the former Giant.
“The Container Store is excited to expand our reach in the D.C. area with two new locations in Virginia,” Jennifer Pape, the company’s senior vice president of stores, said in the release. “…Our differentiated offering of custom spaces, complementary organizing solutions and in-home services is a retail experience customers can’t find anywhere else, and we are pleased to bring this offering closer to customers in Springfield and Ashburn who have shopped at our surrounding locations.”
