Multiple people were hospitalized last night (Sunday) following a two-vehicle crash on I-66 near Vienna.
The two vehicles crashed in the interstate’s westbound lanes around 11:13 p.m. at the 62-mile marker near Nutley Street, according to the Virginia State Police. One of the vehicles caught on fire, the Fairfax County Fire and Rescue Department said.
Westbound I-66 was shut down while firefighters and police responded to the crash, extinguishing the fire by 11:51 p.m.
According to the FCFRD, four people were transported to a hospital with injuries not considered life-threatening, though the VSP said only that “there were at least two injuries, neither of which were life-threatening.”
An investigation into the crash is underway. A VSP spokesperson said no further information was available to release “at this time,” as of 11:30 a.m. today (Monday).
