A new coffee shop has opened in Herndon, just in time to provide a morning pick-me-up for those returning to work after the Fourth of July holiday.
Old Town Coffee welcomed its first customers today (Friday) at 315 Spring Street in the Reston-Herndon Business Park. The shop is connected to the adjacent Moo Thru ice cream parlor, which is also owned by longtime residents Frank and Caitlin Kenney.
Open from 6 a.m. to 6 p.m., Old Town Coffee serves drip coffees, specialty lattes and plant-based energy drinks, along with breakfast burritos, pastries, donuts and freshly made breakfast sandwiches and salads for lunch.
“It’s all premium organic coffees and espresso,” the Kenneys told FFXnow by email.
The coffee shop’s arrival follows the launch of Moo Thru Herndon’s brick-and-mortar store on June 7. The Kenneys first introduced their favorite ice cream to the Town of Herndon last year with a food truck, but a prolonged permitting process slowed the storefront’s build-out.
The Herndon franchise is Moo Thru’s first brick-and-mortar location in Northern Virginia, though the Remington-based ice cream business also has mobile trucks in Hillsboro and Warrenton.
Earlier this week, Northern Virginia Magazine revealed that Moo Thru finished second in its bracket-style “NoVA Wars: Ice Cream Edition” contest. The winner was Nathan’s Dairy Bar in Manassas.
