A 22-year-old Herndon woman was killed after driving the wrong way on an Ashburn road and crashing into another vehicle on Friday (July 26), the Loudoun County Sheriff’s Office (LCSO) says.

Sheriff’s deputies were dispatched to Ashburn Village Road near Fultonham Circle around 10:15 p.m. for a report of a crash involving a red Honda Civic sedan and white Toyota Highlander SUV, according to the LCSO.

The Honda driver, Megan Taylor, died at the scene, and the Toyota’s driver and four passengers were all taken to local hospitals for treatment.

A preliminary investigation found that Taylor was driving south in the northbound lanes of Ashburn Village Road when she crashed head-on into the Toyota, which was headed north on the same road, an LCSO spokesperson told FFXnow.

Taylor wasn’t wearing a seatbelt at the time of the crash, while the Toyota’s occupants were, the sheriff’s office says.

The crash, including the vehicle speeds and whether alcohol or drugs were involved, remains under investigation.
