Ice Cream Jubilee opens at Reston Town Center after long delay

Ice Cream Jubilee has finally arrived at Reston Town Center, just in time for the final month of summer.

Following a months-long delay in obtaining permits, the D.C.-based ice cream shop kicked off a soft opening today (Friday) at 11990 Market Street, Suite D, where it’s serving up scoops from 1-9 p.m.

Over the weekend, operating hours will be noon to 10 p.m. on Saturday and noon to 9 p.m. on Sunday. From Monday (Aug. 5) onward, the shop will operate daily from noon to 9 p.m. until its scheduled grand opening on Aug. 23.

Originally hoping to open in Reston this April, the ice cream chain, known for atypical flavors like baklava, toasted s’mores and banana bourbon caramel, was delayed for several months by permitting issues.

“We were delayed because we needed to get re-permitted for a fire alarm speaker,” Ice Cream Jubilee Chief Marketing Officer Laura O’Shaughnessy told FFXnow.

Ice Cream Jubilee first opened in D.C.’s Navy Yard neighborhood in 2014. Since then, it has expanded to include locations in Georgetown and Ballston in Arlington.

According to its website, the company is set to launch outposts in D.C.’s Tenleytown and College Park in Maryland. It was also announced earlier this year as one of several retail tenants lined up for the new West Falls development in Falls Church, where it’ll occupy 800 square feet at 151 West Falls Station Blvd.

Ice Cream Jubilee joins a competitive market for cool, creamy desserts at Reston Town Center, which is also home to a Ben & Jerry’s and Pitango Gelato.
