A local diner chain is expanding its footprint across Northern Virginia.

The family-owned and operated Bob & Edith’s, which already features seven different locations, will open its next restaurant in Hilltop Village Center on the border of Newington and Franconia.

Located at 6451 Old Beulah Street, the new eatery will fill the space recently vacated by Dickey’s Barbecue Pit, which appears to have closed this past spring.

Started more than 50 years ago by Bob and Edith Bolton, the local business serves up many traditional diner favorites, including pancakes, omelets, burgers and a signature country fried steak with gravy. The restaurant offers options for breakfast, lunch and dinner, with most locations being open for 24 hours.

The forthcoming restaurant is still awaiting a building permit, business manager Rebekah Steele told FFXnow, but expects to open this winter.

When it does open, the Newington diner will be Bob & Edith’s third in Fairfax County, joining locations in Springfield and Huntington. The business can also be found in Arlington, Old Town Alexandria and Manassas.
