Reston Association has officially launched a website that has been in the works for years.
The new platform was fully redesigned with a more user-friendly interface, the community association announced today (Thursday).
New features include a customized “notify me” feature that allows members to sign up for customized email or text alerts. The site also has a “how do I…” navigation feature that redirects users to specific pages.
“Since I joined RA two years ago, I have heard about our members’ desire for a new, more comprehensive website,” RA CEO Mac Cummins said in a press release. “We are proud to launch this new tool for our members, and we’ve taken steps to incorporate their wishes to make this site not only more user friendly, but also more innovative and content rich.”
Designer Civic Plus was selected by the board in December to complete the project, which has been in the works for years after outdated software forced RA to take down its website and opt for a temporary SquareSpace platform in 2020. A consultant later identified security and stability issues that cost RA $46,000.
Additional capabilities will be added to the website in the coming months, including mobile app development and a consolidation of third-party platforms that currently host the events calendar and other functions, RA Communications Director Cara O’Donnell told RA’s board last month.
The site can still be found at reston.org.
RA’s contract with CivicPlus for the website redesign cost $124,894 over four years, including an annual cost for licensing, hosting and technical support.
