Herndon foodies will soon have a more convenient option for tasting chef Peter Chang’s creations.
Peter Chang Herndon is set to open on Saturday, Sept. 28 in Arrowbrook Centre, the mixed-use development near Innovation Center Metro station, the restaurant announced yesterday (Thursday).
Departing from the banquet-style dining seen at most other Peter Chang locations, the 3,500-square-foot restaurant at 2322 Silver Arrow Way will feature a tapas-style menu in line with the Chang family’s last two restaurants: Peter Chang in Gaithersburg, Maryland, and the new concept NiHao in Arlington’s Crystal City.
The menu will also feature signature dishes like steamed BBQ pork bao, Taiwanese popcorn chicken, spicy dry fried eggplant and vegan spicy dan dan noodles. A full-service bar is included.
The Herndon location is the Chang family’s second Fairfax County restaurant, joining another Peter Chang in McLean. The team also runs Mama Chang and Lu Wei by Peter Zhang in Fairfax City.
Lydia Chang, Peter Chang’s daughter and business partner, said in a statement that she looks forward to bringing “quality” Chinese food to the area.
“We’re excited to open in Herndon and be a culinary anchor for lovers of Chinese cuisine in the community,” Lydia Chang said. “We look forward to getting to know our guests and welcoming them in; we hope Peter Chang Herndon will be a destination to gather, celebrate, and enjoy exciting and delicious food and drinks.”
The restaurant will be open Monday through Thursday from 11 a.m to 9 p.m., Friday and Saturday from 11 a.m. to 10 p.m., and Sunday from 11 a.m. to 9 p.m.
Arrowbrook Centre is currently home to Paris Baguette and will add the grocery store Hello 2 India, the ramen restaurant Kyuramen and a boba tea cafe called T’Barr, according to a property site plan.
An attempt to bring Ornery Beer Company to the development fell through due to financing challenges. Another residential building, offices and a hotel are planned for the 35-acre site.
