Tysons Restaurant Noted by NY Times Critics — “Joon was named to The New York Times list of their critics’ 50 favorite restaurants in America right now. The Iranian restaurant is one of 32 recently opened restaurants to be featured on this year’s iteration of the NYT list.” It’s the only entry from Northern Virginia. D.C. Reality Show Cast Includes Local Residents — Contestants on the upcoming, D.C.-set season of the reality dating show “Love Is Blind” include Tysons resident Nick Dorka, who likes the region’s diversity of people and food, and Fairfax resident Ashley Adionser, who thinks Balos in Dupont Circle has gotten too popular. Assault Reported at Fairfax City Motel — “A 22-year-old Falls Church man is facing multiple charges including abduction and assault and battery, in connection with an incident that occurred Sept. 16 at a Fairfax City motel…No injuries were reported.” [Patch]

Chipotle Sets Opening Date in Woodlawn — “Chipotle Mexican Grill will officially open for business Monday, Sept. 30 at its new Sacramento Center location in Woodlawn. Annandale Art Project Comes Together — “Local residents explored concepts of ‘home’ by collaborating on a house sculpture during the Taste of Annandale on Sept. 21. Proposed Vienna House Gets OK — “A proposal to consolidate two adjacent parcels to allow for construction of one large single-family home at 841 Ninovan Road, S.E., received the Vienna Town Council’s approval Sept. 23.” The town approved two homes in 2022 after the original single-family house on the lot was demolished, but new plans were submitted this year for just one home. Reston Food Pantry Fundraiser Returns — “This weekend, South Lakes High School’s PTSA Pantry is hosting its seventh annual Do It Your Way 0.5K, which is the group’s only annual fundraiser. Participants can take part in the event either virtually all weeknd or in- person on Sunday, Sept. 29, from 2-4 p.m. at Lake Anne Plaza.” [Patch]

Local P.E. Teacher Teaches Students to Handle Adversity — “In the gym at Colvin Run Elementary School on Tuesday afternoon, fourth graders sat on the floor and watched videos of their teacher, Patrick Noel, attempting trick shots from different parts of the basketball court…The goal of the lesson, Noel said, is to help students remain determined and learn to embrace failure.” [WTOP]
