The nonprofit that once organized the annual Celebrate Fairfax Festival and a Merrifield art gallery have teamed up to bring a new artistic exhibition to Tysons.
Celebrate Fairfax and mosaicARTs will unveil the “Create – Inspire – Empower” exhibit at an opening reception tomorrow (Saturday) from 4-7 p.m. at The PARC at Tysons (8508 Leesburg Pike).
Featuring 2D and 3D works that “celebrate the unique processes involved in contemporary art,” the exhibition is the second to come out of Celebrate Fairfax’s “Art at the PARC” initiative, which gives a public platform to local artists, according to a press release.
“The Create – Inspire – Empower exhibition invites viewers to explore and reflect upon the artistic journey, highlighting the creativity, innovation, and empowerment that drives each featured piece,” the release said.
The first exhibit was also a collaboration between Celebrate Fairfax and mosaicARTs, which opened at 2931-B Eskridge Road just outside the Mosaic District in 2022. On display at The PARC throughout June, the “Aging Well for All” pop-up gallery was organized by the National Council on Aging and showcased photography with older adults as subjects.
At the opening reception for the new exhibit, attendees will be able to meet and talk to the dozens of featured artists. Community Ink, a poetry club run by Fairfax County Neighborhood and Community Services at the Jim Scott Community Center in Oakton, will read poems.
Works in the “Create – Inspire – Empower” exhibition include paintings, sculptures, photography and digital art, all made by mosaicARTs members. There are also several participating artists under 18 from the U.S. Arts Center, an arts school with locations in Dunn Loring and Chantilly, and J Art Studio in Chantilly.
The exhibit will be available for viewing at The PARC until a closing reception on Dec. 14, when a “people’s choice” award winner determined by a public vote will be announced.
“The gallery provides a welcoming space for all community members to engage with contemporary art and celebrate the artistic talent within the region,” the press release said.
