Regular season ends, playoffs ongoing for N.Va. senior softball league

With 13 or more victories, three different teams recently won Northern Virginia Senior Softball League regular-season fall championships.

The Reston Green won the five-team National Conference crown with a 13-3 record. Reston finished four wins ahead of the runner-up McLean Light Blue (11-7) and five in front of the third-place Alexandria Navy Blue (18-8). The Fairfax Royal Blue and Springfield Maroon each were 5-13.

The Fairfax Light Blue finished 15-5 to win the American Conference crown over the second-place Manassas Red (11-6-1). Tied for third were the Fairfax Gold and Oakton Green with 12-7 marks. The Fairfax Royal Blue (10-8) were fifth and the Alexandria Maroon (11-11) sixth.

The Woodbridge Green had the most regular-season victories by any team in the league to win the Continental Conference with a 16-2 record. The Haymarket Royal Blue and Reston Maroon tied for second with 12-6 marks. The Great Falls Red (9-11) were fourth with the Fairfax Navy Blue (7-13) fifth.

All 21 teams in the fall league participate in the ongoing postseason tournament, scheduled to run through Oct. 31.

After a winter break, the league will resume play with its spring season.
