New Kingstowne Starbucks cafe to open before Thanksgiving

A new Starbucks is set to open in Kingstowne Towne Center before Thanksgiving.

A spokesperson for the coffee chain told FFXnow that the new location at 5890 Kingstowne Center, Suite 120 — formerly a My Gym — will be over 2,400 square feet with expanded seating and additional parking for customers.

Starbucks can currently be found in the shopping center next to Giant at 5860 Kingstowne Center, Suite 100.

“The new store will open before Thanksgiving, and all Starbucks partners working at that store will transfer to the new location,” the spokesperson said.

Starbucks also operates a location inside Kingstowne’s Safeway grocery store (5980 Kingstowne Village Parkway), according to Google Maps.

In addition to Kingstowne, the coffee chain received permits in August and September for interior renovations of its cafes at Old Keene Mill Shopping Center in West Springfield, the Village Center at Dulles in the Herndon area, and Idylwood Plaza, county records show.

A special exception application has also been filed to update the drive-thru sign at 7511 Richmond Highway in Hybla Valley.

Cafes at Chesterbrook Shopping Center in McLean, Barcroft Plaza in Lincolnia and elsewhere in Fairfax County have similarly undergone remodels over the past year to reflect a new design concept that’s intended to be quieter and more accessible, though the look has inspired some grousing on social media.

The Starbucks spokesperson added that there are no other new store openings to announce at this time.

“At this time, we remain focused on serving customers in Fairfax County at our existing stores and have no store opening plans to announce,” they said.
