Fairfax County police are turning to the public for help identifying a man who allegedly tried to burglarize several homes in Reston’s Edgewater neighborhood.

Police determined that the incidents were connected after responding to a report of a burglary at a townhome in the 12000 block of Edgemere Circle on Oct. 2, at 6:50 p.m., the Fairfax County Police Department says.

“The victim reported that someone possibly entered their home and stole property over the weekend,” the FCPD said in a press release last Thursday (Oct. 31).

After canvassing the neighborhood, detectives found that the same person might have been behind another burglary and several attempted burglaries that took place in the same area on Sept. 28 and 29.

According to the FCPD, there were two attempted burglaries in the 12000 block of Edgemere Circle on Sept. 28. The next day, the block saw two burglary attempts and one actual burglary where property was stolen. A burglary attempt was also reported at the nearby condominiums in the 1700 block of Lake Shore Crest Drive.

In security camera images that the FCPD says show the suspect, he appears to be wearing a printed T-shirt, a backwards-facing cap and a face mask.

“Detectives are asking anyone who may have information about these incidents to call the Reston Police Station at 703-478-0904 and ask to speak with a detective,” the police department said.

The department also accepts anonymous tips through Fairfax Crime Solvers, which can be reached online or by phone at 1-866-411-TIPS.
