Brick by brick, West Falls Church will soon be home to one of the area’s few Lego superstores.
Bricks & Minifigs is set to open later this month in the Shops at West Falls Church, located at 7395 Route 29, as a one-stop-shop for Lego products — both new and old. The national Lego-reselling chain also opened a franchise in Herndon this past June.
West Falls Church franchise owner Christian Luik hopes to bring a community aspect to the hobby, targeting both those who collect and those who play.
“From the very beginning, our goal has been to create a space here in Falls Church that serves as a hub for the local LEGO community,” Luik said by email. “… I’d love for our store to be a place where LEGO fans of all types can come to get inspired and meet others who share their passion for this hobby.”
The 2,100-square-foot store will offer a variety of sets, including both new releases and retired ones. For the more experienced builder, Bricks & Minifigs will offer “hundreds of gallons” of individual Lego parts.
Display cases will be lined with thousands of minifigures while customers will also be able to craft their characters in the shop’s “Minifig Maker” space. Custom aftermarket figures will also be available, stretching the store’s offerings beyond just the brand’s catalog.
Luik has collected inventory for 18 months in all, stuffing two storage units and his basement with merchandise — enough for Lego fans of all ages to find something to take home.
“At the end of the day, The LEGO Group is a toy company, and Bricks & Minifigs is a toy store,” Luik said. “While the more sought-after collectibles may receive a lot of attention on social media, an essential component of what makes the Bricks & Minifigs model successful is the emphasis placed — at all levels — on creating a welcoming environment for the entire LEGO community, regardless of age, interest, or budget.”
A grand opening celebration scheduled for Nov. 23 and 24 will feature “exclusive offers and giveaways” in store.
