Two men walked into a pet store in Chantilly last month and left with a puppy they didn’t pay for, police say.
The Fairfax County Police Department released photos pulled from security camera footage today (Friday) that show the reported larceny, which occurred on Oct. 16.
According to the FCPD, its officers went to the store in the 14000 block of Chantilly Crossing at 6:52 p.m. after getting a call for a larceny.
“The complainant reported that two suspects entered the business and stole a female Maltipoo, which was for sale,” the FCPD said in a press release. “The suspects then left the business without paying.”
Police are now seeking the public’s help with identifying the two men, asking anyone with information to contact its Sully Police District Station at 703-814-7000.
While the FCPD didn’t identify the affected store, it appears to be XO Pups at 14398 Chantilly Crossing Lane. The business posted the security footage referenced by police on its Instagram page on Oct. 17.
The taken dog was 10 weeks old at the time of the larceny, according to the store.
“Our team is committed to finding our pup as soon as possible,” XO Pups said in its Instagram post. “Please DM us with any information you may have, or if you need more photos of the two men in the video.”
According to its website, XO Pups has pledged not to work with puppy mills, and all of its breeders are licensed by the U.S. Department of Agriculture with “high sanitation and humane breeding standards.”
