An Alexandria man believed to have shot another man in Woodlawn yesterday (Wednesday) has been arrested.
According to the Fairfax County Police Department, Dominique Witaker, 36, was engaged in a verbal argument with another man — who was known to him — when he allegedly shot the other man in the lower body.
The shooting occurred around 2 p.m. on Wednesday, near the Aldi grocery store at 8256 Richmond Highway, according to scanner traffic.
Witaker then took off on foot, traveling northbound. He was later located at his residence, where he was taken into custody.
The victim suffered a non-fatal gunshot wound to the leg and was transported to a local hospital, according to scanner traffic.
Witaker has been charged with using a firearm in the commission of a felony, destruction of property and malicious wounding, which carries a penalty of five to 20 years in prison, if convicted.
Witaker is currently being held on no bond at the Fairfax County Adult Detention Center, according to police. No information on court proceedings — in the county’s circuit or general district courts — has been entered online, as of press time.
