The annual Cassel’s Holiday Classic at Oakton High School is scheduled for Dec. 27, 28 and 30, with six girls basketball games each day.
The Oakton Cougars (8-0) are the host team. Games begin at 11 a.m. and end with a 7:45 p.m. contest, which will always include Oakton.
The round-robin event includes 12 teams, both public and private-school squads, with teams included that won various championships last season.
In addition to Oakton, other teams from Fairfax County Public Schools are the Robinson Rams, Falls Church Jaguars and West Potomac Wolverines.
Stone Bridge and defending Virginia High School League Class 4 state champion Woodgrove from Loudoun County are entered. Patriot and Gainesville from Prince William County are in the field. Private-school entries are Flint Hill, Holy Child and Seton.
William Penn Charter School from Pennsylvania is entered. The school has been in continuous operation since 1689.
Oakton won the Concorde District tournament last season, while Robinson was the Patriot District and 6C North Region tourney winner. Gainesville was the Cedar Run District tournament runner-up. Seton was 21-7 last year.
