A Maryland man is facing felony charges after an apparent traffic argument escalated into a hit-and-run crash in Tysons that sent a pedestrian to the hospital.
Police officers were dispatched to the 1900 block of Chain Bridge Road at 4:28 p.m. on Dec. 23 for the crash, which reportedly occurred outside the American Girl store at Tysons Corner Center, according to scanner traffic.
“Officers determined that the victim was directing traffic in the parking lot when a driver became argumentative about the traffic pattern,” the Fairfax County Police Department said.
According to police, the driver then struck the pedestrian with a red Chevrolet Corvette and left the scene. Scanner traffic indicates that police were quickly able to locate the driver, who ultimately returned to the scene.
The victim was transported to a hospital with non-life-threatening injuries, the FCPD said. They have since been released from the hospital.
Identified by police as Peter Stanley, 21, of Maryland, the driver has been charged with malicious wounding and a hit and run, both felonies.
Stanley was taken to the Fairfax County Adult Detention Center, but he was subsequently released on a personal recognizance bond. After an arraignment on Dec. 27, the case is scheduled for a preliminary hearing in Fairfax County General District Court on April 14.
