An Arlington-based chain of health-conscious eateries is now catering to more than just local diners.
South Block began serving customers at Dulles International Airport on Monday, Dec. 30, opening up its collection of smoothies, acai bowls and cold-pressed juice to travelers.

“This new location allows us to spread our mission of building healthier, happier blocks to even more people and make them feel awesome,” founder and CEO Amir Mostafavi said. “Whether you’re catching a flight or working at the airport, you can roll with us to grab a quick, nutritious meal while enjoying our signature good vibes.”
The new South Block, which is the brand’s 18th overall, is one of a handful of new retail tenants announced in the airport last year. It is housed in Concourse D, located near neighboring eateries Chick-Fil-A and Rusty Taco near Gate D9.
Founded in 2011, South Block offers eight different bowls — four with acai and four without — as well as four smoothies featuring only fruit, vegetables, juice and nut milks.
The Dulles location, which will be operated by Baldi Management Group (BMG), will also feature grab-and-go sandwiches and salads from Wellfound Foods, a D.C.-based brand. In addition, South Block and BMG have teamed up with the company Procure Impact to offer packaged snacks produced by “local social enterprises.”
“We are excited to welcome South Block, another prized local fast-casual brand, to our program,” Alyson Murphy, vice president of the airport’s concessions program manager Fraport Washington, said. “This new addition will provide Dulles travelers and staffers alike with another fantastic food option.”
The location is South Block’s 18th overall, part of a rapid expansion that has seen eateries open across Fairfax County in recent years. A Chantilly location opened up last summer, while upcoming locations at Fairfax City’s Fair City Mall and Springfield’s Old Keene Mill Shopping Center are expected to open later this year.
The Dulles Airport location will be open daily from 5 a.m. until 10 p.m.
