A resident was transported to a hospital with life-threatening injuries from a house fire in the West Falls Church area early this morning (Friday).
Fairfax County Fire and Rescue units were dispatched to the 2900 block of Lawrence Drive around 1:42 a.m. Upon arriving at the small, single-family home, firefighters reported that “heavy” fire was visible, and they were told someone was still inside, according to scanner traffic.
The person was found on the first floor and taken to Inova Fairfax Hospital.
“Crews are working to bring the fire under control,” the Fairfax County Fire and Rescue Department said in social media posts at 2:33 a.m. “One occupant was transported with life threatening injuries.”
According to the scanner, the fire extended to the house’s attic, requiring the roof to be opened up. Firefighters continued to battle fire and smoke for almost an hour.
“The situation is now stable. The fire’s out,” a commander told the dispatcher at 2:36 a.m.
Nine people were displaced by the fire, FCFRD spokesperson Ashley Hildebrandt confirmed to FFXnow. However, no updates on the hospitalized person’s condition are available due to medical confidentiality restrictions, she said.
