Carfax is going to spend 2025 setting up a new corporate headquarters in Reston.

The vehicle data company, which might be most recognizable for its fox-starring TV ads, has signed a lease for approximately 87,000 square feet of office space at 1906 Reston Metro Plaza in Reston Station, property developer and manager Comstock Companies announced yesterday (Monday).

The office will be spread across three floors of the building, which also houses the information technology company Neustar and a retail-level CVS Pharmacy.

“We are thrilled to announce the relocation of our corporate headquarters to Reston Station,” Carfax CEO Bill Eager said in a press release. “This move marks a pivotal moment in our company’s journey, providing us with a dynamic space that will serve as the foundation for our next phase of growth.”

Currently based at the Trinity Centre office park in Centreville, Carfax assists people with buying and selling both new and used cars by providing vehicle history reports. It also offers online used vehicle listings and a directory to vehicle maintenance shops.

According to Eager, the company’s planned move to Reston Station is intended to reflect “our commitment to provide a collaborative work environment so Team CARFAX can create innovative, new products that meet the needs of millions of consumers.”

Carfax expects to complete the move into its new space by the end of 2025.

Reston Station has three office buildings overlooking its plaza outside the Wiehle Metro station, totaling 765,000 square feet of space. Despite the vacancy challenges facing many areas of Fairfax County, including buildings along the Dulles Toll Road, Comstock has more office space on the way, with two buildings in the new Reston Row district on track to finish construction this fall.

This year, the 90-acre development is also expected to welcome the JW Marriott Hotel and Residences, a 420-unit residential building called BLVD Haley, and new dining and retail options, including Ebbitt House, Noku Sushi, the bakery Tous les Jours and the mini golf venue Puttshack.

“The addition of a dynamic technology company like CARFAX to our growing roster of industry leaders further cements Reston Station as a hub for innovation and business,” Comstock Chief Operating Officer Timothy Steffan said. “… We’re proud to have met CARFAX’s needs for an in-office workforce and look forward to welcoming their team later this year. This partnership reinforces Reston Station’s reputation as the premier destination for corporate headquarters.”
