Many Flint Hill grads playing on men’s college basketball teams

At least eight former Flint Hill Huskies boys high-school varsity basketball players are continuing to play the sport at different levels in college.

One of the most notable is 6-foot-11 graduate student Noel Brown at Division I St. Bonaventure University.

Through 16 games, all starts, Brown is the team’s third leading scorer, averaging 12.6 points per game. Brown averages 4.6 rebounds per contest, and he has 10 assists, nine blocked shots and eight steals.

Prior to St. Bonaventure, Brown played three seasons and in 64 games at Division I George Washington University. He has scored 584 career points combined for the two schools.

Another Division I player is 6-4 junior guard Saxby Sunderland for Chicago State University. Through 17 games, Sunderland averages 6.2 points and 2.8 rebounds per game. He has 28 assists, 13 steals and has made seven three-pointers.

Matt Gray is a 6-8 sophomore wing on the Loyola University of Maryland Division I men’s team. He has played in five games, scoring six points.

Reis Jones is a 6-10 junior forward for the Division I Florida Southwestern State College team and Quin Gorman is a 6-8 freshman forward for Stony Brook University in New York.

Jones has played in 17 games, averages 6.1 points and 5.6 rebounds per game, has blocked 15 shots and has five steals. Gorman has played in nine games, scoring 13 points with 12 rebounds.

Ronald Ayers, a 6-3 junior guard, plays for Division III Stevenson University in Owings Mills, Md. He has started 11 games and averages 11.7 points and 4.1 rebounds per contest. Ayers has made 17 three-pointers, and has 17 assists and eight steals.

Other Division III players from Flint Hill are 6-4 junior forward Jack O’Grady (Elmira College in New York) and 6-6 sophomore forward Nate Pabis (Amherst College in Massachusetts).

O’Grady has played in 10 games, having 24 rebounds and scoring 2.4 points per outing with nine assists and four steals. Pabis has played in nine games and scored 15 points.
