A D.C.-area chain of hibachi restaurants is opening a restaurant in Burke as part of its latest expansion.

Quickway Japanese Hibachi, which currently features six locations across Fairfax County, is coming to Burke Centre Shopping Center, founder Bob Liang confirmed to FFXnow.

The new eatery will replace the shuttered GameStop store located at 5749-B Burke Centre Parkway. The Starbucks, which operates out of the neighboring 5749-A storefront in the standalone building, will remain open.

“Quickway has multiple stores in Fairfax County, and we are excited to open even more,” Liang said. “It’s been an honor to be part of this community! We’re looking forward to new doors being opened in the Burke Center.”

The storefront is slated to undergo roughly $100,000 in renovations, flipping the nearly 1,000-square-foot space from a store to a fast-casual dining establishment. That includes the installation of kitchen equipment, tables and chairs and more, according to the application.

Filed Jan. 2, the application still awaits a variety of reviews before a permit can potentially be issued. Quickway is targeting the beginning of July for an opening, Liang said.

Quickway, which started with its first location in Maryland in 2012, now has 50 locations across the D.C. area, plus eateries in select cities down I-95 to Richmond. In Fairfax County, the Burke location follows restaurants in Fair Oaks, Centreville, Herndon, Seven Corners, Bailey’s Crossroads and Lincolnia.

The chain is planning to expand with 15 more locations in 2025, according to a promotional flyer shared by a Quickway spokesperson. Among the upcoming locations is one at Idylwood Plaza that’s now projected to open in May after previously targeting a March launch.

Quickway’s menu offers build-your-own hibachi bowls where diners can choose between five different proteins to go with mixed vegetables, rice or noodles. There are also bento boxes with a choice of protein, a California roll, chicken dumplings and spring rolls, plus a variety of sushi options.
