A studio devoted specifically to ear-piercing hopes to open in Fairfax Corner later this year.
Rowan, which emphasizes safe piercing practices, will replace the former Becky’s Boutique at 4209 Fairfax Corner Avenue East in just “a few short months,” a company spokesperson said.
The studio will be the brand’s second in Fairfax County — following one in Merrifield’s Mosaic District — and fourth location overall in Virginia.
Founded in 2017, Rowan takes an approach to piercing that is intended to be “fun, celebratory and safe,” according to its website. The brand only employs licensed nurses to do piercings, while also offering only hypoallergenic metal products to minimize discomfort.
Rowan offers two different types of piercings: device piercing, which is done with a hand-pressurized tool, and traditional needle piercing. Piercings start at $35 for one, with additional fees for jewelry.
Eight different piercing options are advertised in all, ranging from the traditional lobe piercing to more unique options like helix, conch and more.
The brand also offers a variety of earrings, including hoops, studs, cuffs and charms, among others.
A tenant buildout estimated at $200,000 is currently in progress before the store is able to open, according to Fairfax County’s permitting portal.
