Good news for anyone turned off by the Trump administration’s overhaul of the Kennedy Center: you don’t have to cross the Potomac River to get a taste of Broadway in the D.C. area.

Yesterday (Monday), Capital One Hall (7750 Capital One Tower Road) unveiled a new slate of shows dominated by 20th-century throwbacks for its fifth “Broadway in Tysons” season.

The 2025-2026 slate will kick off in September with some pre-Halloween spookiness, courtesy of “The Addams Family,” and conclude in May 2026 with a revival of “The Music Man,” Meredith Willson’s somehow equally old-fashioned and timely tale of a con artist hoodwinking a quaint Midwestern town.

In between, the season will bring a musical adaptation of the cross-dressing Robin Williams comedy “Mrs. Doubtfire” and a celebration of the Queen of Rock ‘n’ Roll, Tina Turner.

Tickets for single shows will go on sale at a later date, but those interested in buying a subscription, starting at $292, will be able to do so starting on May 7 at 10 a.m. Current subscribers are able to renew or change their seats right now.

In a press release, Capital One Center Managing Director Jon Griffith declared the newly announced “Broadway in Tysons” lineup its “most spectacular” yet. The series has been a staple of the concert venue’s season since it opened in 2021.

“We’re bringing some of the biggest and most beloved Broadway hits to Capital One Hall, giving our audiences the thrill of world-class theater right here in Tysons,” Griffith said. “Each year, this announcement generates incredible excitement from the community, and we can’t wait to share another unforgettable season filled with dazzling performances, powerful storytelling, and Broadway magic at its best.”

Descriptions of the new shows can be found below. In the meantime, the current “Broadway in Tysons” season will take a bow after Memorial Day, with “Chicago” ushering in summer with a bang on May 30 through June 1.

The Addams Family: September 19-21, 2025

A comical feast that embraces the wackiness in every family, THE ADDAMS FAMILY is the magnificently macabre hit musical featuring everyone’s favorite creepy, kooky characters. Wednesday Addams, the ultimate princess of darkness, has grown up and fallen in love with a sweet, smart young man from a respectable family. A man her parents have never met. And if that weren’t upsetting enough, she confides in her father and begs him not to tell her mother. Now, Gomez Addams must do something he’s never done before-keep a secret from his beloved wife, Morticia. Everything will change for the whole family on the fateful night they host a dinner for Wednesday’s “normal” boyfriend and his parents.

Mrs. Doubtfire: October 17-19, 2025

Out-of-work actor Daniel Hillard will do anything for his kids. After losing custody in a messy divorce, he creates the kindly alter ego of Scottish nanny Euphegenia Doubtfire in a desperate attempt to stay in their lives. As his new character takes on a life of its own, Mrs. Doubtfire teaches Daniel more than he bargained for about how to be a father. A hysterical and heartfelt story about holding onto your loved ones against all odds, Mrs. Doubtfire is the musical comedy we need right now – one that proves we’re better together.

Meredith Willson’s THE MUSIC MAN: May 29-May 31, 2026

There’s trouble in River City when a fast-talking salesman gets his heart stolen by the town librarian. Meredith Willson’s six-time, Tony Award-winning musical comedy The Music Man follows fast-talking traveling salesman, Harold Hill, as he cons the people of River City, Iowa, into buying instruments and uniforms for a boys’ band that he vows to organize – this, despite the fact that he doesn’t know a trombone from a treble clef. His plans to skip town with the cash are foiled when he falls for Marian, the librarian, who transforms him into a respectable citizen by curtain’s fall. Featuring songs such as “Seventy-Six Trombones,” “Trouble,” “‘Til There Was You,” “Pickalittle” and “Gary, Indiana,” The Music Man is a family-friendly story to be shared with every generation.
