A new restaurant concept expects to open mere steps from Lake Anne in Reston later this summer.
From the company behind Shipgarten in Tysons will come Reston Brats n Beers, which has leased a space in the neighborhood’s eponymous Lake Anne Plaza.
The new brand will rely on many of the German-inspired influences that Creative Bar Concepts (CBC) has implemented in other locations, CBC co-owner Matt Rofogouran told FFXnow.
“We’re gonna have your standard German bratwurst, we’re gonna have jalapeno cheddar wurst,” Rofogouran said. “We’re gonna have applewurst. We’re gonna have weisswurst. We’re gonna have all sorts of different types, a wide variety of bratwurst.”
The restaurant’s selection of sausages will be accompanied by a wide range of German, Belgian and American beers. The total number has yet to be finalized.
Brats n Beers, which expects to open within the next few months, will take over the former barbershop K.G.’s Cutz at 1610 Washington Plaza North.
Rofogouran, who purchased the storefronts at both 1608 and 1610, intends to turn the ground floors into the restaurant, according to a permit approved by Fairfax County officials in 2021. The upper floors were renovated into residential units.
“The place is pretty much a shell, so we’ve just got to build a bar and add a kitchen to the back,” Rofogouran said in a phone call last week.
The new restaurant will join a handful of other eateries in the plaza, including Lake Anne Coffee House & Wine Bar, Lake Anne Brew House, Kalypso’s Sports Tavern and Cafe Montmarte, among others.
Creative Bar Concepts launched Shipgarten — a pop-up concept featuring restaurants and bars inside retrofitted shipping containers — in Tysons’ Scotts Run neighborhood in 2022. The company also runs Hops N Shine in Alexandria.
The brand’s previously announced Herndon Biergarten is “still in the works” according to Rofogouran, though no opening date has been set.
