A man stationed at the German military’s outpost in Reston will serve more than six years in prison after pleading guilty to downloading thousands of images and videos of child pornography, the U.S. Attorney’s Office for the Eastern District of Virginia says.

Peter Markus Kuttke, a 49-year-old German national who lives in Reston, was indicted by a grand jury on Nov. 7, 2024 on one count of receiving child pornography, according to court records.

“Law enforcement learned that [child sexual abuse material] files were available for download on Bit-Torrent, a file-sharing network, from a user with an IP address associated with Kuttke’s residence,” the Justice Department said in a press release.

According to a Jan. 6 statement of facts, Kuttke downloaded media depicting minors engaged in sexual acts from the internet at least between Nov. 4, 2023 and Dec. 1, 2023, when federal agents from Immigration and Customs Enforcement’s Homeland Security Investigations executed a search warrant of his home.

Investigators found over 200 videos and 3,000 images saved to the man’s computer, including ones showing adults sexually assaulting children, prosecutors said.

Kuttke pleaded guilty to the criminal charge on Jan. 8, and he was sentenced yesterday (Wednesday) by a federal judge in Alexandria to six years and six months in prison.
