Only a few seat remain available as Vienna prepares to host a Longest Table fund-raising event on Saturday, May 3 from noon to 2 p.m.
A total of 400 participants will be accommodated on two long tables placed on Mill Street, part of an international effort to support non-profit organizations.
“We are so excited to bring this lovely community-building event to our town,” said Trisha Stotler, a leader of the Vienna initiative. “We hope this simple meal brings together our neighbors and introduces them to more friends in the community.”
Rustic Love, a grass-roots organization aimed at bringing the local community together to combat food-insecurity issues, has been designated as the beneficiary of the Vienna event.
Sponsored by Compass Real Estate, Modera Wealth Management and United Bank, the Vienna Longest Table event is free and open to the public. Online reservations are required to secure seats at the table and be assigned potluck dishes to contribute to the effort.
DECA members from James Madison High School are volunteering to support the event.
For those who cannot secure a spot at the tables, overflow picnickers will be accommodated on the Vienna Town Green (no registration required). There also will be live music and lawn games.
Event parking is available at the Vienna Presbyterian Church parking lot, accessed from Park Street. Street parking also is available.
The Longest Table initiative began in 2022 in the Chelsea neighborhood of New York City. It has since grown nationally and internationally and recently was featured in Netflix’s “Emily in Paris.”
