A Manassas man who fled Inova Fairfax Hospital last February while getting treatment has admitted to poorly choosing his getaway vehicle.
Rickey Ramone Lowe Jr. pleaded guilty to one count of grand larceny on Wednesday, stemming from his theft of a private transport ambulance at the hospital.
Lowe, who was receiving treatment after a stolen vehicle he was in crashed earlier that day, fled still donning his hospital-issued medical gown and with an IV in his arm, police said.

The ambulance was later uncovered in Annandale, shortly after the Feb. 14, 2024, theft. The 32-year-old Lowe was taken into custody nine days later.
As part of the plea agreement, the Office of the Commonwealth’s Attorney opted not to prosecute Lowe for any additional crimes outside of the grand larceny.
According to statue, Lowe faces a maximum of 20 years in prison for the offense, though “the parties agree that the defendant shall be sentenced to a period of active incarceration within the range of the applicable sentencing guidelines,” court documents said.
Any relevant sentencing guidelines were not publicly available at the Fairfax County Courthouse on Thursday.
Lowe is scheduled to be sentenced by Circuit Court Judge Patrick M. Blanch on June 20, according to court records.
