NOVA student accused of threatening to kill professor

A local college student who failed an exam is accused of threatening to shoot his professor in that class.

The 20-year-old Springfield man, who is a student at Northern Virginia Community College’s Annandale campus, was arrested April 18 after bombarding his math professor with numerous intimidating emails, according to court documents.

I will shoot you in the m———–g head and I don’t give a f–k,” one of the emails said.

The student allegedly sent his professor five different emails on April 17-18, according to court documents.

In the first email, the student apologized to his professor for using his phone in order to cheat on the exam — a decision for which “I accept the consequences” the student allegedly wrote.

But then, the tone of the emails quickly escalated.

You are a b—-h and … I want to kill you and beat your ass,” the student wrote in the second email, timestamped at 1:58 p.m.

The student emailed his professor again around 8:47 that night, followed by another email at 8:59 p.m.

The last email — in which the student threatened to shoot the professor — was sent at 11:52 a.m. on April 18, according to court documents. The student was arrested by law enforcement later that day.

The student has been charged with one count of making written threats, which is a felony. He faces a maximum penalty of five years in prison if convicted.

He is next scheduled to appear in Fairfax General District Court for a preliminary hearing on July 15, according to court records.
