All-you-can-eat sushi restaurant works toward opening near Dulles Airport

A local sushi restaurant chain is in the process of expanding to Herndon.

Signage for Sushi Oishii, which already boasts locations in Vienna and Maryland, has appeared on a storefront located mere miles away from Dulles International Airport.

As previously reported by The Burn, the new restaurant, located at 13195 Parcher Avenue, will replace Bar Louie, which had opened at the site in 2014 but closed around the end of 2023. Bar Louie filed for bankruptcy in 2020 and again earlier this year.

Sushi Oishii owner Zhenghai Zheng says they hope to open in June, though when FFXnow stopped by yesterday (Wednesday), it looked like the restaurant still needs to complete considerable work on its 4,900-square-foot interior.

Sushi Oishii got its start more than 10 years ago in Rockville, Maryland, according to Zheng. However, the restaurant has recently introduced an all-you-can-eat option with its expansion to Vienna, where it opened in May 2024.

Sushi Oishii’s Owings Mill location, which opened last fall, doesn’t have all-you-can-eat, but that will be an option at the Herndon location, Zheng confirmed.

“We are expanding this concept all over Northern Virginia,” he told FFXnow.

Though Sushi Oishii’s existing restaurants each have their own website, their menus are mostly the same. Each offers dozens of sushi options, as well as numerous grilled and skewered meat dishes.

Located near the Crowne Plaza Dulles Airport Hotel just north of the Dulles Toll Road, Sushi Oishii joins an area with plenty of dining options, including 14 alone at the neighboring Worldgate Centre mall. It’s grouped with two other standalone restaurant buildings currently occupied by Wendy’s and Taco Bell.
