A recently-opened bubble tea cafe has become Seven Corners’ hottest new establishment.
Customers eager for a sip of the popular tapioca drink lined up at Shuyi Grass Jelly & Tea this past weekend for its official grand opening at Willston Centre II, which included a buy-one, get-one promotional offer.
The shop initially introduced itself to the neighborhood with a soft opening earlier this month.
Founded in 2007, Shuyi is a Chinese brand based in Chengdu in the Sichuan province. Boasting 7,000 stores in its home country, the company has expanded globally with franchises in the U.S., Vietnam, Indonesia, Thailand, Malaysia, the Philippines and Spain. Locations in Italy are in the works, according to its website.
The Seven Corners franchise appears to be the company’s first in the D.C. area.

The store’s menu is highlighted by grass jelly, which comes from the Chinese mesona plant in the mint family. Shuyi offers two different drinks with this ingredient: the signature grass jelly milk tea, as well as coconut grass jelly.
Shuyi also offers five different milk tea options — such as the brown sugar bubble milk and the oolong cherry blossom snow top tea — and five different fruit teas.
Located at 6122-B Arlington Blvd, just off of Patrick Henry Drive, Shuyi opens daily at 11 a.m. with closing time coming at 9 p.m. on weekdays and a half hour later on weekends.
