A Fairfax man who allegedly exposed himself multiple times in Oakton and Chantilly over the past decade has been arrested.
The Fairfax County Police Department shared last month that detectives were investigating a series of indecent exposure incidents after receiving a report of an unidentified man exposing himself “to multiple victims” near the 4600 block of Stonecroft Road in Chantilly between 5 and 6 p.m. on March 30.
Based on a preliminary investigation, detectives believed that the same man may have previously exposed himself in the same area on April 29, 2023 around 6 p.m. and on April 24, 2024 at around 5:20 p.m., the FCPD said in an April 18 news release.
The department announced today (Wednesday) that, based on an anonymous tip submitted after the release was published, detectives have identified a 57-year-old man from Fairfax as the alleged suspect.
In addition to the Chantilly incidents, police believe the man may also be behind an exposure that occurred in 2015 in the 9500 block of Courthouse Road in Oakton, just outside the Town of Vienna’s limits.
For the four identified incidents, the man has been charged with obscene sexual display and five counts of indecent liberties, the FCPD says.
Fairfax County General District Court records show the man was arrested on April 30 and charged with simulated masturbation for the March 30 incident in Chantilly. However, he was released on a recognizance bond following an arraignment on May 1.
An adjudicatory hearing in that case is scheduled for June 4.
According to the FCPD, the man was re-arrested last Friday (May 9) after detectives received the anonymous tip and connected him to the other incidents.
“He was transported to the Fairfax County Adult Detention Center where he was held on no bond,” the police department said. “Detectives continue to investigate his potential involvement in additional cases.”
The other charges appear to have been filed in the county’s Juvenile and Domestic Relations Court, but a search of that court’s online database didn’t turn up any results, and the clerk’s office declined to comment when contacted by FFXnow.
