A teen from McLean has been charged with murder after allegedly shooting a man last night (Friday) in Herndon.
Officers were dispatched to the 300 block of Elden Street around 9:40 p.m. in response to “calls about a disorderly male subject,” according to the Town of Herndon Police Department (Herndon PD).
Police then received a call from Kianmehr Shirinipaziziba, 18, who said “he had encountered the subject on Elden Street and shot him,” the department said in a press release this morning (Saturday).
“Upon their arrival, officers provided aid to the victim until EMS transferred him to a local hospital where he later died,” Herndon PD said. “Shirinipaziziba was taken into custody without incident.”
Elden Street was closed in both directions while police investigated the scene, reopening just before midnight.
After conducting interviews, including of witnesses to the shooting, police have charged Shirinipaziziba with second degree murder. Additional gun-related charges — use of a firearm in the commission of a felony, reckless handling of a firearm, shooting from a vehicle and discharge of a firearm in a public space — were announced on Thursday, May 29.
He is currently in custody without bond at the Fairfax County Adult Detention Center. The police department is asking anyone who may have witnessed the incident to contact its officers at 703-435-6846.
