F45 Training has changed up its routine in Reston.

The fitness chain closed its Reston Station franchise at Faraday Park (11201 Reston Station Blvd) after May 12 in order to consolidate its operations in the area at Reston Town Center, the gym’s future owner told FFXnow.

A number of factors contributed to the decision to focus on the town center studio, including an impending change in ownership.

With the original franchisees now living overseas, the new owner — who asked not to be named for now — says he felt he could bring a more local touch to the gym, as someone who’s lived in Reston since 1990 and attended the local schools up through South Lakes High School.

“I’ve seen the change from Reston Town Center not being there to what it is now,” he said.

However, as a condition of its approval of the ownership change, F45’s corporate leadership required one of the Reston studios to be jettisoned, because they’re too close to each other. Rules regulating the distance between franchises were introduced after both locations opened in 2021.

Keeping the Reston Town Center location, which launched in February 2021, quickly emerged as “the logical choice,” the new owner said. In addition to having more members, it’s more accessible with more available parking, and the franchise has a “good relationship” with the town center’s management.

In contrast, since its grand opening in November 2021, the Faraday Park studio had become difficult to access due to the ongoing construction around Reston Station.

“We’re able to help more people by combining studios,” the new Reston F45 owner said.

According to the owner, most members and all employees were able to transition to the town center studio.

“They were all already working at both locations and are all at town center now,” he said. “We made a promise to our staff that they would all have classes at Reston Town Center.”

Located at 11840 Freedom Drive, F45 at Reston Town Center offers a variety of classes at times ranging from 6 a.m. to 6 p.m. The membership options include a seven-day trial for $7 for local residents.

Specializing in “circuit-style” workouts, F45 also has studios in Vienna, The Boro in Tysons, Merrifield’s Mosaic District, Fairfax City, Fairfax Corner, Springfield and Falls Church.

At Faraday Park, the F45 Reston franchisee is now looking to sublease its vacant, 2,491-square-foot space. The first-floor suite is available for a term that would last until April 2031, and since it’s already fully built out with bathrooms and showers, it would be suitable for another “small gym concept,” according to a listing by retail broker Verity Commercial.

Faraday Park consists of two apartment buildings, with a 242-unit west tower that opened in April 2021 and an east tower with 408 units that was completed a year later. Remaining retailers in the complex include the Vietnamese restaurant Lantern House and Kitchen Bar, Emiline’s Day Spa and Presidential Bank.
