A Taylor Swift tribute band is coming back to Reston Station this summer as part of an extensive array of free seasonal concerts organized throughout the area by Reston Community Center (RCC).

The community center kicked off its annual summer concert and entertainment series over Memorial Day weekend with a jazzy happy hour at Reston Town Square Park (11900 Market Street) on May 23, courtesy of the Tania & Jeff Grubbs Quartet.

That concert was part of the Happy Hour with Darden and Friends series, which will continue tonight (Friday) with Jeff Antoniuk & Helluvaband performing at 5:30-6:45 p.m. Additional concerts are planned at the same time and location every Friday through June 27.

Other series on the schedule for this summer include:

  • Sunset Concerts, which were revived at Lake Anne Plaza last year after a four-year hiatus
    • Wednesdays from June 11 through Aug. 13, 7-8:30 p.m.
  • Take a Break concerts at Halley Rise (2025 Fulton Place)
    • Thursdays from June 5 to Aug. 28, 7-8:30 p.m.
  • Summerbration Fab Fridays at Reston Station, which highlights cover bands, including the aforementioned Taylor Swift tribute on July 4
    • Fridays from May 30 to Sept. 19, 7-8:30 p.m.
  • Family Fun Entertainment Series with kid-friendly events at Reston Town Square Park
    • Saturdays from June 14 to Aug. 2, 10-10:45 a.m.
  • Sunday Art in the Park with Shenandoah Conservatory musicians at Reston Town Square Park
    • Sundays from June 8 to Aug. 24, 7-8 p.m.

In addition to live musical performances, Reston Station’s Summerbration series will include complimentary fitness classes and movie screenings at 1800 Reston Row Plaza — a new location. The development offers three hours of free parking with validation at its ParkX garages for all of the events.

“There’s nothing quite like the magic of summer evenings filled with music in Reston,” RCC Board Chair Beverly Cosham said in a press release. “With six concert series five days of the week, all Restonians can have a summer filled with music, fun and community spirit. Music has an incredible power to bring people together, and we are thrilled to be a part of that.”

New for this year, a RCC On Wheels van will make appearances at some of the concerts, though the exact number will depend on the availability of staff. The van will provide information about RCC’s programs and events as well as various arts and crafts activities, mostly ones geared toward children.

RCC on Wheels, a pilot program intended to expand access to the community center’s programs, “has been very well received” since it made its public debut during last year’s Reston Holiday Parade on Nov. 29, RCC spokesperson Lorna Campbell-Clarke says.

“Over the past few months, RCC staff have been reviewing their curriculum in concert with our community partners to fine-tune program delivery into Reston neighborhoods,” Campbell-Clarke told FFXnow by email. “Whether it is CPR/AED training at a nonprofit organization or a mini production by RCC’s Young Actors Theatre for senior center residents or a plein air watercolor session for the budding artists – RCC On Wheels will offer fun and educational diversified experiences for all.”

Full lineups for all of RCC’s summer concerts can be found on its website.

For anyone who hasn’t had their fill of free, outdoor music from RCC’s offerings, Reston Town Center’s Reston Concerts on the Town are underway after opening with an ABBA tribute band on May 17 during the 2025 Tephra ICA Arts Festival.
