Pride Month has arrived. Though this year’s Reston Pride festival has come and gone, there are still plenty of events around Fairfax County for those looking to celebrate or do some good for their community.

Pride-themed blood drive

The Boro is partnering with the American Red Cross to run a Pride Month blood drive tomorrow (Wednesday).

The drive will run from 9 a.m.-3 p.m. at Boro Station (1775 Greensboro Station Place) with the Tysons Community Alliance and Galloway offering Pride-themed baseball caps, snacks and other goodies.

The Red Cross lifted some of its restrictions on LGBTQ donors last year, but there are still rules limiting donors who have new or multiple sexual partners and those taking anti-HIV medications, such as PrEP or PEP.

Pride Trivia Night

Audacious Aleworks Brewery in Fairfax City (10940 Fairfax Blvd) is hosting Pride Trivia Night on Thursday (June 5).

Doors open for the trivia at 4 p.m. and the questions start at 7 p.m.

“No matter where you fall in the rainbow, you’re welcome at Audacious Aleworks,” the event listing said. “Come join us on Thursday June 5th for a special Pride Month trivia night.”

Fairfax Pride Launch Event

Fairfax City and George Mason University are launching a Pride Month kickoff at Old Town Hall (3999 University Drive) this Saturday (June 7).

The event will run from 9:30-11:30 a.m. and will be a family-friendly event.

“At around 10:00 am, a warm welcome will be given by representatives from both the City of Fairfax and Mason, to commemorate the start of Pride Month,” an event listing said. “This collaborative event will kick off Pride Month at Old Town Hall with community vendors from both the Mason campus and the NOVA area, as well as Children’s Activities, including FREE Caricatures, Fairy Hair, Facepainting, Crafts, Balloons, music and more!”

Mosaic District pride celebration

The Mosaic District is hosting its 4th annual Pride Celebration on Saturday, June 14.

The event will kick off with a parade at 3 p.m. followed by drag performances, live music and more.

“The parade begins at 3 p.m. in front of One Medical and will run all the way down District Avenue to Strawberry Lane — concluding at the Main Stage,” the event listing said. “The celebration will continue until 9 p.m. with drag performances, live DJ sets and a performance by Metro to Paris.”

Pride Pawty at The Boro

The Boro is hosting a pet-friendly Pride party, also on June 14, from 1-4 p.m. at Boro Park (8340 Broad Street).

“Grab your furry best friend and join us for a vibrant afternoon where pups and Pride come together for a celebration like no other!” The Boro said in an event listing. “Expect colorful fun, pup-approved activities, and plenty of Insta-worthy moments.”

The event will include a “rainbow doggy bone bar, doggy caricature artists, glitter tattoos and more. The event will also feature the NoVA Prism Center Lending Library.

Herndon PRIDE

Arts Herndon is hosting its second annual Herndon PRIDE gathering on Saturday, June 28, from 11 a.m.-5 p.m.

No announcements or details are public on the event page yet, but the Facebook page said the event will also feature a “special concert” from 7-10 p.m.

Fairfax Library

The Fairfax County Public Library is celebrating Pride month with a series of events this month, from a discussion about “unpacking gender” in conversations with kids and teens to a fashion show later this month.

WorldPride

The events around Fairfax coincide with WorldPride being celebrated in D.C. this year from May 17 to June 8.
