A body has been found in a small pond near Tysons Galleria.
While an identification hasn’t been publicly confirmed yet, pending notification of the next of kin, police have spent more than three days searching for a Gainesville man who was reported missing after a crash on Friday (June 6).
The Fairfax County Police Department is now conducting a death investigation.
Police responded to a single-vehicle crash near Westpark Drive and Tysons Blvd around 11:30 p.m. on Friday.
The following day, the driver, Kyle Benjamin Cole, 19, was reported missing to the Prince William County Police Department by his family, prompting a multi-day search that involved police from both jurisdictions.
“In the last 3 days we deployed our detectives, officers, drones, Fairfax1, RTCC, Forensics, K9, and Search & Rescue teams,” the FCPD said earlier this afternoon.
Two lanes on Westpark Drive remain closed as police finish recovering the body.
Late this afternoon, the FCPD Dive Team recovered a human body from a small body of water near Westpark Dr & Galleria Dr in Tysons. An FCPD death investigation is now underway. https://t.co/bEQAbLIkCg
