Cybersecurity company moves into new global HQ at Reston Station

A growing cybersecurity company recently made the leap from Herndon to Reston.

GuidePoint Security opened its new global headquarters in the distinctive office building at 1900 Reston Metro Plaza in Reston Station on June 3, a move that the company says followed “a period of record growth.”

Previously based in Herndon at 2201 Cooperative Way since 2015, GuidePoint sees its relocation as more than a change in address, according to CEO and Chairman Michael Volk.

“It’s a launchpad for the next chapter of GuidePoint Security,” Volk said in a press release. “Our momentum is a direct reflection of the trust our clients place in us, the expertise of our team and our steadfast commitment to helping organizations strengthen their cybersecurity posture. We wanted to build a space that embodies our culture, empowers our team and positions us for long-term success as we scale across both public and private sectors.”

Reston Station developer Comstock Companies announced last August that GuidePoint had signed a lease for 7,700 square feet of office space — a “milestone” deal that ensured all three trophy-class office buildings in the Reston Metro Plaza district were fully leased.

Founded in 2011, GuidePoint Security provides cybersecurity services to both private businesses and the government. Its clients over the years have included 40% of Fortune 500 companies and more than half of the federal government’s cabinet-level agencies, according to the press release.

The company says the past year has been particularly successful, pushing its workforce over 1,000 employees and reporting double-digit revenue growth. It also opened additional offices in Ohio and Texas, and introduced new cloud security, identity and access management, and artificial intelligence risk assessment services.

GuidePoint’s new Reston headquarters was designed to accommodate its “next phase of growth,” including its expanding workforce and “continued investments in product innovation, service excellence and community support,” the press release says:

The modern, flexible space is designed to fuel collaboration, strengthen customer engagement and foster community connection. Surrounded by industry-leading corporate neighbors, the location offers convenient access to premium dining, hotel and transit amenities and close proximity to key federal agencies, technology partners and enterprise customers.

“As a company born in Northern Virginia, we’re proud to deepen our roots in the region,” Volk said. “Reston’s talent-rich, innovation-driven environment is the perfect foundation for what comes next.”

Other notable office tenants at 1900 Reston Metro Plaza include Google, ICF International and Spotify. Earlier this year, Comstock announced that Carfax and the commercial property insurance company FM had collectively leased 109,000 square feet of office space at nearby 1906 Metro Plaza.

The developer is also continuing construction on the new Reston Row district, which is expected to be mostly complete by the end of 2025. In addition to two new office buildings, the district will bring a 419-unit apartment building, a JW Marriott Hotel and Residences, and additional retail, including Tous les Jours, Ebbitt House and Puttshack.
