Local police arrested a Centreville man last week after finding that he had allegedly exposed himself multiple times in the Greenbriar area near Fair Lakes.
Most recently, a victim told officers on April 24 that they saw “a man expose himself” before running away. Officers responded at 4:10 p.m. to the intersection of Maple Run Lane and Middle Ridge Drive for the report, the Fairfax County Police Department said in a press release today (Monday).
“Officers canvassed the area but were unable to locate the suspect,” the FCPD said. “Detectives responded and assumed the investigation.”
According to the FCPD, the investigation led detectives to identify a 22-year-old man from Centreville as the suspect behind not only this incident, but also two others that occurred near the Rocky Run Stream Valley Trail in 2024.
In those cases, a man was reportedly seen on the trail either exposing himself or masturbating, police say. The incidents occurred on Aug. 27, 2024 and Dec. 16, 2024, according to court records.
The man was arrested last Thursday (June 26) and charged with three counts of indecent exposure, a class 1 misdemeanor under Virginia law punishable with up to a year in jail and a maximum fine of $2,500.
After being transported to the Fairfax County Adult Detention Center, the man was released by a magistrate on a $1,500 bond. He’s scheduled to appear in Fairfax County General District Court for an adjudicatory hearing on Sept. 11 at 9:30 a.m.
The FCPD has also been investigating an indecent exposure incident that was reported in Greenbriar on Aug. 20, 2024, asking community members on June 3 for help identifying the alleged suspect based on a photo from surveillance footage:
At 6:35 p.m., officers responded to the 12800 block of Mount Royal Lane near Greenbriar for a sex offense case. The victim reported that a man was seen near a trail masturbating. Officers canvassed the area but were unable to locate the suspect.
An FCPD spokesperson confirmed that the Aug. 20, 2024 case isn’t connected to the ones involving the Centreville man.
