Fairfax County police are now turning to the public for help with identifying a suspect in a stabbing that occurred late last month at the Build America Plaza retail center in Bailey’s Crossroads.

Officers responded to the 3800 block of South George Mason Drive at 6:03 a.m. on June 29 after a man called 911, reporting that he had been stabbed twice, according to scanner traffic.

The man was taken to a hospital with injuries that were initially deemed critical but later determined to be non-life-threatening, the Fairfax County Police Department previously told FFXnow.

Officers didn’t locate any suspect during an initial search of the area, but detectives subsequently obtained surveillance footage that they believe shows the man behind the stabbing, the FCPD announced yesterday (Thursday).

“Through their investigation, detectives discovered the victim and suspect were arguing outside of a business,” the FCPD said in a news release. “The suspect stabbed the victim multiple times and then fled the area in an older model Black sedan.”

The FCPD is encouraging anyone with information about the incident to contact detectives at its Mason District Police Station at 703-256-8035. The department also accepts anonymous tips through Fairfax Crime Solvers.
